of Electron Microscopes and other precision instruments with over 50% share of the global market, headquartered in Nakagami, Akishima in Western Tokyo, is seeking an in-house native English proofreader to work 2-3 days per week, starting in mid-late October 2009.

The candidate must have a bacheolor's degree preferably in science or related fields, intermediate-business level
spoken Japanese and a valid working qualification.

Ideally the candidate would reside in Western Tokyo,within commuting distance of Nakagami Station on the
Chuo (Ome) Line.

The candidate will join the translation and proofreading section and assist with creating English manuals, technical documents and other items of correspondance that have been translated
by Japanese Engineers. The content is technical so experience in proofreading for technical writing or in the sciences is desirable but not essential. Simiarly, while
Japanese ability is desirable, the team do speak English so communication would not be a problem.

The company is looking for someone with whom they can build a long-term working relationship, so applicants should
bear this in mind.

Working times and payment are negotiable, according to experience and ability. Qualified translators can also expect freelance translation work. Hourly
rate will be in the region of JPY 2000-3000 for on-site proofreading and general translation, with large
translation projects negotiated separately.
